Fish Creek Headwall

PWS reconstructed the Fish Creek Headwall, located 25 km south of Queenstown, after it sustained damage during flood events. The headwall supports a triple DN1200 culvert under Mt Jukes Road at Lake Burbury.

The downstream headwall was carefully demolished while protecting the culverts. We constructed a new concrete headwall, toe, and apron in situ. To manage the challenges posed by rain events and limit water flow through the construction site, we diverted the existing flows through a single culvert, creating a dry working area for concrete pouring and finishing. This strategy prevented concrete spills into Fish Creek, ensuring an environmentally safe and effective reconstruction.
