Lake Augusta Flume Repair
PWS undertook the reconstruction of the concrete wall supporting the flume that channels water for Central Highlands power generation activities. This flume, crucial for power generation from Lake Augusta to Poatina Power Station, was significantly damaged during the October 2022 flood event.
We removed over 100 meters of damaged gabion baskets and placed 300 cubic meters of no-fines concrete under and against the flume wall to stabilise the structure. Additionally, we supplied and installed 120 concrete mass blocks to reconstruct the channel wall protecting the flume. To further reinforce the site, we removed 2,000 tons of erosion material (including rock and trees) from against the flume wall and repurposed the rock to re-establish the existing access road.
