Scotia Mine Dewatering
PWS supplied and installed an advanced system at Scotia Mine to lower the pit level, preventing environmental impact and pit wall collapse. This comprehensive project included:
- Environmental Studies: Thorough assessments were conducted to ensure that the project would not adversely affect the surrounding ecosystem.
- Engineering Design: We engineered a siphoning system to transfer water from the mining pit to the Ringarooma River, focusing on environmental safety and efficiency.
- Pipeline Installation: Our team welded and installed 820 meters of DN250 HDPE DR17 pipeline, with excavation and trenching to maintain stability and prevent movement.
- Hydrostatic Testing: We conducted hydrostatic testing on the pipe sections to verify the integrity and reliability of the system.
- Dewater Pump Installation: An electronic dewatering pump was provided and installed once the siphoning system was completed.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: We installed external monitoring for the pipe flow meter to track the water level outflow, which was successfully lowered by 5 vertical meters. Ongoing field refueling and system monitoring ensure continuous operation and safety.
