SCOTTSDALE IRRIGATION SCHEME

PWS were engaged by the Principal Contractor for all pipe welding and customer off takes for the 90km Scottsdale Irrigation Scheme. Welding started in early 2019 and concluded in January 2020.

The scope of works included:

  • Weld strings up to 900mm diameter within the nominated corridor.
  • Install 105 x offtakes for Property Outlet.
  • Install 47 x offtakes for Scour Valves.
  • Install 140 x offtakes for Air Valves.
  • Provision of all labour and materials to complete the works (some customer outlet products were supplied by the client).
  • Customer outlet arrangements were fabricated in Scottsdale before deployment to customer locations.
  • Transport and handle pipe from temporary storage locations to the alignment and weld in situ;
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the ‘dig lay backfill’ contractor to ensure sufficient welded pipe was available for the works to continue in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of environmental, safety and access requirements on private property and along the road network.
  • Pipe flushing and pressure testing.
  • Document all weld details, pressure testing results for provision to the Principal Contractor; and
  • Works were completed using crews of 4-5 welders/operators and managers.
