SOUTH EAST INTERCONNECT PROJECT – RICHMOND TASMANIA
PWS recently partnered with Batchelor Construction Group and completed this significant Tasmanian Irrigation project. The project includes a 7.5 km pipeline from the Tea Tree Road Pump Station Along Middle Tea Tree Road into Daisy Banks Dam to allow for the interconnection of existing irrigation schemes.
The scope of works included:
- Welding strings up to 560mm diameter within the nominated corridor.
- Install 4 x offtakes for Scour Valves.
- Install 14 x offtakes for Air Valves.
- Provision of all labour and specific materials to complete the project.
- Provision of project management and construction management resources to manage this detailed project. Including management of the various existing infrastructure challenges, road crossings, drill shots and comprehensive hydraulic tie-ins.
- System Integration of the Daisy bank and Tea Tree connections with the existing Tasmania Irrigation water main. Including all valve assemblies and connections into the 560mm main line.
- Transport and handle pipe from temporary storage locations to the alignment and weld in situ.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the partnered construction group that are completing the ‘dig lay backfill’ to ensure sufficient welded pipe was available for the works to continue in seamless, safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of environmental, safety and access requirements on private property and along the road network.
- Pipe flushing and pressure testing.
- Documentation of all weld details, pressure testing results for provision to Tasmania Irrigation.
